PROJECT

Different from what it seems

The Plastic project involves the transformation of thrown-away items found in the surroundings into new accessory forms. Coming from a culture that traditionally uses chopsticks and spoons, I was astonished by the prevalent use of plastic fork sticks in American school cafeterias. Also, after being used for one-time use, cheap plastic forks were thrown into the trash can without hesitation. I collected and did several material studies.

Receipt

The Receipt project is composed of repurposed materials, connecting the creator's time and message by transcending the conceptual value beyond the monetary worth of the materials. Utilizing receipts as symbols of financial value, I transformed their shapes to create the piece. Over time, the printed product prices and information in black fade away, leaving behind the pure essence of blank paper, transforming the characteristics of receipts into a new meaning as accessories.

Luxury

The Gemstone projct had the purpose of criticizing the material value given to jewels used as jewels by setting fake jewels made of plastic in antique pattern frames of Europe. I designed a necklace made by imitating the shape of expensive jewels using the characteristics of plastic that becomes flexible in heat and then set in frames.

Recycle Bicycle Tire

The recycle bicycle tire project comprises content the conceptual value can exceed the monetary valueof the material by utilizing discarded materials and connecting the time andmessage of the producer who produces the work. The shape of the brooch wasreproduced by thinly cutting the pattern from a torn and worn bicycle used forhuman transportation.

Technique Practice

This is a project from my junior year, where I learned brazing, welding, and soldering.
